On March 20, 2025, Chomps announced a voluntary internal recall involving selected lots of Original Beef Sticks and Original Turkey Sticks produced at one manufacturing facility. The decision was made in cooperation with the company’s third-party production partner and under the supervision of the USDA after the possible presence of metal fragments was identified in certain products. The recall was initiated as a precautionary action designed to protect consumers and maintain product safety standards.
The investigation began after two customer reports suggested that metal fragments may have been present in some meat stick products. Although no injuries or illnesses were reported, the company chose to act quickly and remove potentially affected products from circulation out of an abundance of caution. Chomps emphasized that consumer safety remains the company’s highest priority and that immediate action was taken once the issue was identified.
The affected products were packaged during a limited production window between January 16, 2025 and January 23, 2025 at a single facility. Only certain lots of Original Beef and Original Turkey meat sticks are included in the recall. Products manufactured outside of the identified production dates and lot numbers are not impacted. Customers who purchased the affected items are encouraged to review the lot codes printed near the barcode area at the bottom of each meat stick package. For multi-pack pouches, consumers may need to remove an individual stick to locate the code.
The recall applies to selected lots of 1.15-ounce Original Beef products, including single sticks as well as 8-count and 12-count pouch packages. Certain Original Turkey single-stick products are also included. Consumers who discover that they possess products from the recalled lots are advised not to consume them. Instead, they should return the products to the retailer where they were originally purchased in order to receive a refund. Customers unable to return products to the retailer are encouraged to contact the company directly for additional assistance and support options.
Chomps stated that every operational decision is guided by the responsibility to protect customers and maintain trust. After identifying the issue, the company worked closely with manufacturing partners and regulatory authorities to determine the full scope of potentially impacted products. Additional lots were voluntarily included in the recall to ensure that any products that might have been affected were fully accounted for and removed from distribution channels.
The company also reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to product quality, food safety, and transparency. Chomps explained that precautionary recalls are an important part of maintaining high standards and responding responsibly whenever a potential issue arises. By acting quickly, the company aims to minimize risk and reinforce consumer confidence in its products and production practices.
Customers with questions regarding the recall can contact the Chomps customer support team for further guidance. Support representatives are available to help consumers determine whether their products are included in the recall and explain the refund process. Consumers concerned about possible illness or injury related to the recalled products are advised to consult a healthcare professional.
The company continues to cooperate with all relevant partners and regulatory agencies as part of the investigation and quality review process. Chomps also stated that it will continue taking every necessary measure to strengthen product monitoring procedures and uphold the safety expectations customers rely on when purchasing its products.
Consumers are encouraged to carefully inspect any Original Beef or Original Turkey meat stick products purchased during the affected timeframe and compare lot codes against the recall information provided by the company. Only specific lots produced during the identified dates are involved in the recall, and products outside of those listed codes remain unaffected according to the company’s investigation.
